I decided last week, Tuesday, during lunch at the Barrel House over a, gasp!, hamburger NOT Caesar salad, that I wasn’t going to stay enrolled in the cosmetology school whose name shall remain unspoken. It was a big bummer, as I have wanted to do esthetics for years. Literally.
So when I got home from said lunch and checked my voice mail and listened and heard the message from Theresa at Bluestone Academy I literally squealed in delight. She has space in esthetics. It starts tomorrow. Two students, two classes a year. Wowza. This was the school of my choice. The vibe is amazing. Young, fresh, eager to try new things. Completely up my alley.
So I drove to Ellensburg the next day and signed up. HOW COULD I NOT? It was absolute kismet, eh?
After that lunch life was full of funny little sticky notes. I didn’t put them there…but something or someone did. Crazy stuff. Like the house down the street for rent. Like my school was right next to Ruby Street. Like the Belle & Sebastian I listened to as I drove from Yakima to Ellensburg, singing loudly and quite badly. Like the new Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell album. I mean, could you make that up??? Mark of the Screaming Trees, Mark of Ellensburg…Isobel of Belle & Sebastian, Isobel of Scotland. A more unlikely duo I could not imagine.
And I started to wonder about fate. Are we destined to end up in one single location, in one single place? I was in the treatment room with Christy and my instructor’s husband, Tim ( massage school owner) came in to show us neck and shoulder techniques. And right then, at that very moment, as he introduced his touch and demonstrated neck massage I knew I was precisely where I was suppose to be. The perfect marriage of my vegan/macrobiotic/drink water and eat brown rice heal thyself Buddha desires with my girly make it all pretty and be sure to get some fabulous product side. I mean I could go on and on. The picture of Gandhi tacked near the end of the hall…the eastern art…the amazing green walls…the ceilings that touch the sky…the Mac flat screen with internet in the break room that we get to use!
And on a scrappy note: I’m finishing up my latest kit this weekend – in the midst of a Cookie Lee show today and Ruby’s birthday tomorrow. Actually Monday but celebrating Sunday. THREE YEARS? Zowie. Like, how did that happen?
Oh! And the parade. Hayley has a parade today. Shoot! Okay, stop the philosophy Tracy and get in the shower… 🙂
