I woke up this morning, felt the bed under me, the sheets above me, Breezy to my left and thought, “I am alive”.
Then I sent an e-mail to the ex and apologized for the poor language I have used this week with him, the frustration upon frustration upon frustration that festered into a mound of name-calling.
It is a beautiful day.
Last night ZaChoeje Rinpoche spoke at the North Star Lodge about Spirituality in Your Daily Life. His talks are always so simple. Sitting before a very happy, very wise, and sweetly funny spirit as you are reminded, gently, that you already know what to do.
And thus, here are my notes re: Rinpoche’s four little suggestions :
- Meditate daily. How? Wake up each morning and feel that you are alive. Feel the “aliveness”. That is a good way to wake up. Get to know your body, keep your mind with your body. The mind likes to wander – to Seattle, to last week, to tomorrow, to Mt. Rainier, to last year, anywhere but where it is. Keep your mind here, with your body. Wake up, alive. Alive is good. Be where you are.
- Connect with the Nature. We are inside, inside – this is not good for the Human Being. Get outside – feel the grass, the sky, the sun, the trees, the air. (Sounds much better than saying “Get outside already!!”)
- Do one kind thing each day. No rewards, no expectations, just be kind, once a day. All those little kind things – 365 a year, over 10 years – that is a good collection of kindness.
- Take care of your body. Your mind, your body – they must both be in balance. Eat well, sleep, exercise.
I realized last night that his talks always recharge me, make me feel happy happy happy, but they are only every few months and is that enough good input? This week I will check out the Bodhi Center. They meet every week and I can see now, clearly, the benefit of gathering.
All that said – I still really need a cup of coffee 🙂
