I started this early yesterday with “Happy Birthday” but at 9:39pm 9:02 11:52 a.m. 2:38 p.m. today – well, it just doesn’t sound quite right.
I’m writing this the day before your birthday, so I can try to ignore that it IS your birthday. Now that it is your birthday (are you with me?), I actually feel a bit better.
Yesterday afternoon Hayley came by – she brought me a card she had made with yet another gorgeous drawing on the front and the inside? Get your tissues. I’m speechless. There are no words for the enormous lump of love I have for her….
“Hey mum – I know you’re the one reading this. Who else would? Today must be really hard on you. I’ve posted a new song on YouTube. It is called “Memory of Mother”. Now, please note I didn’t compose it, just wrote the lyrics and here they are:
If only I could see, the dream you see and we’d live so happily.
You’d never cry, you’d never die. If only you could see me.
I know that we would live so ever happily if only you could see me.
Don’t you wish you were somewhere grand? Somewhere holding your hand?
I wish upon a shooting star to see
Whatever you see if only you see me.
I spread my wings and fly so far away that you don’t know what to say.
You’d never cry, you’d never die,
If only you could see me.
I know that you would live so ever happily if only you could see me.
Don’t you wish you were somewhere new?
Somewhere dreams come true?
Don’t you see what I mean?
I’m somewhere you will be too.
Happy Birthday Derek. Although I never hated you and never loved you, I still miss you. I can sum it up in one phrase though:
“Just love kitten”
This Thursday, June 26th, Blue Skies for Black Hearts (their MySpace) is playing Highway 30 in LaGrande – it seems quite appropriate. Their new single – Siouxsie Please Come Home (YouTube video) is charming, catchy pop and I couldn’t think of a better birthday present for you, Mr. Derek.
So if you are out and about, wandering this world instead of hitting on the foxy angels up there – go haunt the show, okay? They even talked about you in the LaGrande paper.
Same time, last year.
Happy Birthday Derek.
